How to Choose Running Shoes - Marathon Training by Stu Mittleman

to Choose Running Shoes - Stu Mittleman a fitness/running coach and ultradistance running champion, began to separate himself from the rest of the ultra marathon field for running, when he set three consecutive American 100-Mile Road Race records in the US National Championships 1980-1982. His fastest 100-Mile Run was 12 hours 56 minutes. In 1986, he astounded the ultra-distance running world when he won the 1,000 Mile World Championship and set a new world record by running the distance (1 609.344 kilometers) in 11 days, 20 hours 36 min. 56 sec.

In between his 100-Mile National Championship wins and his 1,000 Mile World Record, Mittleman set three consecutive American Records in the 6-Day Race, the final one being set in 1985 at the University of Colorado Field House. Stu American record, which still stands: 577.75 miles in 6 Days!

Extolled by peak performance expert Tony Robbins, Stu is himself an author and fitness trainer, having written Slow Burn: Slow Down, Burn Fat, and Unlock the Energy Within (ISBN 0-06-273674-4). The book is based upon three basic tenets:

* Think: Attitude and focus as the foundation

* Train: Run to create energy for life

* Eat: Energize frequently with natural foods and plenty of water. The book proposes a semi-low carb nutrition regimen, using the metaphor of carbs being a cars battery and fat being the fuel, and with recommendations for snacks such as almonds and salads.

Stu continues to coach people from all walks of life, from beginner to elite, as they aspire to get the most out of their physical training. He specializes in preparing novice runners for their first Marathoner.

On Dec 31, 2008, Stu became the sixth American the third American male to be inducted into the American Ultrarunning Hall of Fame.
