Top 10 iPhone 8 cases under $15 dollars (and iPhone 7)

When looking at iPhone 8 cases, does a $40 dollar case do that much more than a case worth less than $15 dollars? Well, that’s the question that I’m going to try to answer today. For the most part, the answer is no.

The best iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 case under $15 dollars in my opinion is the Silk Innovation Base Grip. For $11.99, you get an incredibly textured case which improves the handling of your slick iPhone and it comes with a screen protector. All that for 12 bucks.

Get the Silk Innovation Basegrip on Amazon: you’re looking for the cheapest clear iPhone case, go with the Ringke Fusion case. Sure the handling isn’t great but it is drop-rated and it cost 10 bucks. Silk Innovations Pureview is also a good choice if you don’t mind the design on the back of the case.

Get the Ringke Fusion on Amazon: the Silk Innovation Pureview on Amazon: Tech Armor Flex Protect

This case get’s a score of 3.7 which means it’s a below average case. When compared to other cases on this list, the Flex Protect is a bit thicker and the rubberized edges aren’t as grippy as other case.

The plastic back is going to show fingerprinting quite easily but it is raised so putting the case on a flat surface won’t scuff it up.

#9 Poetic Quarterback

This is another case that gets a score of 3.7. BUT this is the first of three Poetic cases in this list. With a score of 3.7, it’s a below average case with the handling of the case bringing it down. The Quarterback is quite slick and will slide around on it’s back. The slick back also doesn’t help the handling of the iPhone in the case.

#8 Caseology Skyfall

This is the first case on this list that I would personally consider. It handles well, has a raised back and doesn’t have a cutout on the back so getting the iPhone 7 version of the phone for your iPhone 8 is quite possible.

#7 Snugg

This Snugg case surprised me a bit. It’s a slightly above average case that reminds me a lot of the Spigen Tough armor. In fact, the general look and finish of the product is slightly better than this really bad Cocomii Paladin case. I’ve give this Snugg case a score of 3.8 Eh’s out of 5.

#6 Poetic Affinity

This is one of my personal favourites. I like the look and design of the case. There aren’t many cases that have thin rubber strips running through the length of the clear polycarbonate. The unique design greatly improves the handling of the iPhone and the ridges along the edge of the case help with the other wise smooth TPU.

#5 Poetic Revolution

This is the last Poetic case on this list and it gets a score of 3.9 Eh’s out of 5 which means it’s the first above average case in this list. The Poetic Revolution has all the same handling characteristics as the Poetic Quarterback but it comes with a screen protector.

The Revolution is going to be the toughest case on this list so if you’re on a budget and need something with a bit more protection, check out the Poetic Revolution.

#4 Patchworks Level

I really enjoyed the iPhone 6 version of the Level but the iPhone 7 and 8 version is a bit lacking. I liked the solid feel of the older level as the newer one comes in two pieces. However, unlike most two piece cases, the Level doesn’t add a lot of bulk to your device.

#3 Ringke Fusion

As I said at the beginning of the video, the Ringke Fusion is the only clear case on this list that’s drop-rated. I’ve given it a score of 3.9 Eh’s out of 5 and it’s really the drop-rated that pushes it above the other cases in this list.

#2 Silk Innovation Pureview

Wait Aaron! Isn’t the Silk Innovation Pureview a clear case? Sort of yes. Sort of no. The back of the Pureview has a design to it so it doesn’t lay your iPhone completely bare. The design still allows the color of your iPhone to pass through it but it will hide scratches and fingerprints better than the Ringke.

#1 Silk Innovation Basegrip

If you’re looking for a no-nosense cover for your iPhone, get a Basegrip. Like the Pureview, the Basegrip comes with a screen protector. It’s not glass but it will do the bare minimum when it comes to screen protector which is to prevent tiny scratches form showing up on your screen.
